Summer Sports Registration 2014

Summer Sports Registration is next Wednesday 17^th September at Gulf Harbour School Rooms 8 & 9.  Two time slots 3:15-4:30pm and 5:30-7:00pm.
Sports we have available for the summer are:

• Tennis
• Golf
• Twilight Netball
• Auckland Adidas Marathon for kids
• Basketball
• Tag
• Summer Soccer

So lots to keep you healthy and having fun over the summer.  Come along and talk to the delegates at the registration to see which sport is right for you.

Who wants to run a Marathon???

Just seeing if any of the kids want to do this again this year.

When : 2nd November 2014 - Auckland Viaduct

Cost : $25 per child ( ages 7- 13 or intermediate age)

Training - Training will be an 8 week program starting the 8th September. Kids will be expected to complete 5km a week, 3kms at school once a week and 2km in their own time each week ( Totaling 42km in 8 weeks).

I am also looking for a parent who would like to do the trainings in School lunch break on a Monday each week.

Basketball Training for Term Two.

Hi Teams,

Welcome back to another term of full on basketball fun!

Just a reminder, we are running our training sessions on Sunday’s now (so those who are involved with Saturday sports have no excuse to miss it!!)

This week, we are on the badminton court from 10.30 – 11.30 ish, where Dion will run through some handy skills for our players.

Cost of $3.00 per player.  Please encourage your team to come along, as the more training they get, the better their skills will develop. And of course new players are welcome.

SGH Year 5 Girls Represent at Mystics vs Tactixs Game

12 girls from our  Year 5 teams were asked to walk out with the Mystics before their game on Sunday 13^th April 2014 at the Trust Arena in Henderson.

They had their faces painted in Mystics colours and then each girl held the hand of a Mystics player and accompanied them out onto court before they warmed up.

The girls along with their parents were then given complimentary tickets to watch the game. A first for many of these girls to see a game at this level live.

A very special occasion for all these girls and one they will never forget.

A big thank you to Selena Grimshaw and her daughter Jorja for making this possible.

The Skycity Breakers final game of the season cheered on by SGH basketballers last Friday, 21 March 2014

We had 100 SGH basketballers, family members included attend. Loads of smiles and cheering, banners flying and head band wearing to celebrate CJ Burton's retirement. It was a great game that we all thoroughly enjoy watching, despite the final score.

We sure do have a fabulous community of supportive families willing to make Basketball fun for our kids. This sort of support teaches our basketballers the social side to being a team member. That social team bonding is an important part to the life lessons we can learn. 

So thanks to those families that joined in and we hope to see all there again next season, just as loud and just as happy.

Golf Term 2 & 3 2014

As term 1 has been such a hit, we will be offering Term 2 & 3 golf this year. We will have to have the

numbers, but Blake is ready to continue with our groups. As NZ winters can be a bit unpredictable, the

sessions will be for 6 weeks over the term so we have room for rain days etc. Please register your interest
